Family Therapy

Family Therapy in Hertfordshire

Family is a very important thing, but what does it mean?

To some, the true meaning of family means a group of people related by blood or ancestry. To others, it has nothing to do with genes and everything to do with love, compassion, and support. The definition of the word family can mean many things.

Family therapy is for those who live in the household and are effected directly by the problems one person maybe experiencing. It is designed to help people in a close relationship help each other. We explore views of each member and relationships to understand the problems they are having. It helps family members communicate better with each other. It can help families to change, develop and resolve conflict. Making for a better home. This allows family members to talk to each other, overcome difficult situations and become more comfortable with communicating with one another.

One important thing with family therapy is being able to open up and communicate freely with each other. At first this can be difficult but during our session we learn to be able to do this. Another is being able to do this without repercussions and being met with resilience. It is important that everyone has their time to talk but also be listened too. Many people don’t really listen when others are speaking therefore creating difficulties and issues within the household.

Through therapy sessions I aim to provide a platform for families to use to elevate their levels of communication, support and love, which makes for a happy family and happy individuals.
